Active Isolated Stretching
A form of assisted stretching developed by Kinesiologist,
Aaron Mattes, he believes, as I do, that "stretching should
be a painless, peaceful process." It is through the repeated
movement in and out of a specific stretch while contracting
the opposing muscle, that generates the movement of
blood and lymph through the region. Thus, infusing the
area with ample nutrition, oxygen, and immune system
cells, as well as providing the vehicle to remove waste.
This philosophy of stretching is one that I utilize in every
session that I teach.
I believe, that when you genuinely understand the healing
and cleansing properties of movement, it can change the
way you think about exercise.
Flexibility is the key to feeling good in your body. Often, it is only when stretching is regularly employed that aches and pains, that seemed fixed for good, disappear. And something else happens, flexibility makes you happy and feel younger.
