Respiratory Exercises (pranayama)
Breathing Exercises strengthen the respiratory muscles.
Unlike the Heart, Lungs don't have their own muscles, and yet
they must expand and contract continuously from our first
breath to our last. Lung capacity is vital because it feeds your
whole body. There are many different exercise that can be
practiced in order to strengthen this system.
Something you can try on your own: Lie on your back, on the floor and place one hand on your stomach between your navel and your rib cage (to feel the effect of the movement of your diaphragm) and one hand on your chest– take a deep relaxing breath into your belly while not expanding the chest. Bring your awareness to how it feels to breathe deep.
