How does Acupuncture work?
Acupuncture works by directly stimulating the nervous system and immune system. Second only to exercise, acupuncture has the ability to activate the production of endorphins in the body. Fine sterile needles are inserted in the body, often along channels of energy called Meridians. The aim in acupuncture treatments is to facilitate the body in moving back to a state of health or balance (homeostasis).Simply put, acupuncture supports the body in doing what it does best, which is to heal itself.
The scope of acupuncture includes: moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, acupressure and of course the insertion of fine needles. All of these methods may be used to assist the body in returning to a state of health.
